Diez -Tsen – Zehn – Kumi – Tien – Dix , no matter what language you speak Ten is 10 , and the Patriots are sitting pretty with ten wins. No one short of CLNS’ Taylor Kyles saw this coming. No one. So hats off to my man Tay and sorry folks who coincidentally happen to be my friends and Giants fans ( great people ) . I’m not satisfied , not after what we here in New England have witnessed thus far this year. We want more. And I for one and Josh for two are not looking past this Monday night’s matchup. Here are my monster keys to Patriots victory
Keep The Drake Mello
After going nine games without serious injury to the offensive line the injury gods have finally tapped the Pats shoulder and they will be missing two fifths of the group, Old friends Vederian Lowe and Ben Brown are going to need to put their big boy pants on and play starting minutes. The Pats had a real issue last week with pressure after rookies Will Campbell and Jared Wilson went down, blitz packages and Stunts are about to be unleashed , this quintette needs to be ready and Keep Maye calm, cool and collected.
Lets go Bowling
The Patriots need to exploit the A and B gaps of this giants defense and set up the pass with the run this week, no easy task when your starting left side is sitting in a tub, but this is how i’m cutting this key. Gut punch after gut punch, Stevenson should see an uptick in touches this week and of course Henderson will steal the show with his patience and explosiveness.
Red Rover Red Rover
Send in Jack Westover. Thats it simple and straight cut Key, the Pats need an extra blocker on the field and someone who can generate holes for the aforementioned dynamic duo. The Tonga kid did not practice Friday and with Milton Williams out if Khyiris does see the field those reps will come on the other side of the ball.
Play Action to Pay Dirt
The Giants are single high safety happy. Fantastic, go on get into Man coverage and lets see how that works out for you. Josh has the players to exploit mismatches Monday night. I expect to see a ton of mesh. Get the crossers and pick plays going josh help your guys get separation. Then exploit the sidelines with Drake’s massive arm. Can you say Sluggo ? Can you say Stutter ? I knew that you could !
Win the turnover battle – The Pats gave and took one away last week. This key can’t come up push this week .
Own the Late Dows – the Patriots were just 5 of 14 last week converting on 3rd and 4th down. The defence did their job holding the bungles 3-13 on third but lost on 2 of 3 fourth down attempts.
Limit the Laundry – Smart teams don’t get flagged, The Patriots are proving to be a studious bunch. Averaging under 4 flags a game over their last three contests. The Giants on the other hand are dumber than dirt. Averaging almost 8 you can’t do that’s a game.
Own the Red Zone – Last week the Pats were , I can’t even say it. Im going to let super Hot editor girl type this in. The Patriots took 9 snaps inside the Bengals five yard line last week NINE TIMES ( Ed Rooney Voice ) , Six from the one. And didn’t score a TD . Fuck My Life
Crush and Contain
I love Jackson Dart , I thought the Giants hit a home run grabbing him at 25 in last year’s draft. He’s big, strong and accurate in the short and intermediate field, he can also run the ball. What he has issues with is Man coverage. Stone the giants on early downs and force Dart to throw the ball. Again crush this pocket from the outside and contain him in it. If the sacks come great but the key is to keep him in the pocket and have to beat tight coverage.
Gap integrity
The Giants want to run the ball , while on paper this looks like a fool’s errand , The Patriots have given up 100+ yards on the ground in each of the last three games. The fact of the matter is , this is a very different defence without Milton Williams. Add in the questionable status of Tonga , this key may be the most important on this week’s ring. The Pats need good pad level they need to hold their gaps and keep force the Giants into a passing game
That’s it my rabid readers. I know it’s easy to look past a 2-10 team, one thats giving up more than 27 points a game. But with the injuries mounting up on both sides of the ball the Pats are going to need those next men up to truly step up on Monday night.
