Hey guys, this is my favorite time of year. I love the draft and free agency. All the buzz, all the rumors. Huge changes are expected this year and the NBA is wide open this coming year.

The Boston Celtics have three first round draft picks (14, 20, and 22) and one pick in the 2nd round.

A lot of people don’t expect the Celtics to draft all three first rounders, but after the news Al Horford is all but gone who knows what Danny does. This is a huge draft and year for Celtics GM Danny Ainge, who’s been under fire for hoarding all these picks and losing out on superstars like Paul George, Jimmy Butler, Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis.

Rumors Anyone ?

So let’s start with a rumor (one of many). The Celtics have had teams from the top of the Lottery inquire about Jaylen Brown’s availability. The 4 pick is up for grabs with New Orleans already picking first. The Celtics have been rumored to want to move up for Garland, a pg from Vanderbilt.  Danny please do not make this move.  Jaylen has improved year to year and is one of the key pieces moving forward. Do you see anyone not named Zion, Ja, or RJ Barrett in this draft that will be better than Jaylen? I don’t.

Draft Targets

Next, let’s look at 3 players I have my eye on for the Celtics if they keep all three picks.

Bol Bol – C – Oregon

His combo of size and skill makes him an intriguing prospect. Before his injury he averaged 20.1 ppg (56.1% shooting) 9.6 rebounds 1 assist .8 steals and a nice 2.7 blocks. It is a small sample size because of his injury but, he’s worth a pick to me. He has so much upside.

PJ Washington – PF – Kentucky

PJ improved his jump shot drastically from his freshman year. His three ball rose from 23.8% to 42.3% in his sophomore season.  He is a vocal leader on and off the court. He averaged 15.2 ppg (52.2% shooting) and 7.5 rebounds

Carson Edwards – G – Purdue

This guy loves to compete. He’s best at putting the ball in the basket (who cant use that, right?). He averaged 24.3 ppg 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists at Purdue. If you watched the NCAA tourney, you watched this kid light it up.

Honorable Mention – Tyler Herro – G

There is some good value picks in the second round. Keep an eye on these three guards

Jordon Bone – PG – Tennessee

Averaged 13.5 ppg 3.2 rebounds 5.8 assists

Tremont Waters – PG – LSU

Averaged 15.3 ppg 2.8 rebounds 5.8 assists

Bryce Brown- SG – Auburn

Averaged 15.9 ppg 2.1 rebounds 1.9 assists

Draft Night Is Here

Well, all we can do now is wait and see what happens tonight. I’m excited. How about you? Who do you want the Celtics to take? ?
