OMG, if The Pats can’t beat this team on Sunday, everyone including myself, should resign. Just stop doing what you do for this team because you’re in the wrong profession. An old message with a new meaning. The Falcons run as much or more motion than anyone in the NFL. It’s a pure canard, a provarication, it’s all a lie. Man Up
I’m begging you. The front is going to have their hands full shutting down the running game. The back end is going to have to do their part. London and Mooney are not the issue. Get inside leverage and use the boundaries as another defender. Kyle Pitts is an issue. A 6’6” 250 lb issue. God I miss Donnie Nelson. Is Hawkins up to this task? I don’t know, but keeping Pitts from moving the chains is the real key.
Win the turnover Battle – Last week the Patriots overcame 2 turnovers. That won’t happen Sunday. Take care of the ball. Atlanta may be a bad team, but they don’t cough it up. The numbers are pretty even between these two teams. Get me an extra possession.
Limit the Laundry – Atlanta does a few things well. One of those things is they are one of the least penalized teams in the league. Just 5.9 a week. The Pats are still playing stupid football 8.1 flags tossed a game. Clean it up.
Own the Late Downs – Looking at last week’s numbers 3-11 just 27% on third down makes you wonder how it got so ugly for the Browns. I need this back up and closer to 50% Sunday.
Own the Red Zone – again just 33% last week – 2-6 on trips inside the twenty vs the Browns and The Browns were 2-3. The Pats are dead last in Red Zone defense in the league in 2025 . Lets Go Mr Defense – yes, I’m looking at you Mike. 70% – really SEVENTY ?
Pass to set up the Run
Atlanta has been brutal on early downs against the pass. Find Mike Huges, # 21 in your program, and pick on him all day. I’m expecting the Falcons to move him inside and out; this is the place Maye needs to go, again and again. He is the weakest link. The entire secondary has an issue with missed tackles (sound familure?). Go get that YAC., I need digs and crossers in progression: low – mid – high . this is how you beat cover three this is how you beat Quarters.
Beating the Dead Horse
Toss the rock. I hate to beat a dead horse and I’ve been preaching it all year. To the edge, to the edge, to the edge. Well time to give the dead horse a break. The middle of the Falcons defensive line has been manhandled all season. Get those combo blocks on track Dougy and get Terrell Jennings (Stevenson is out ) into the A and B gaps. The Falcons are a cover three crew. Make hay up the middle. Keep them honest with tosses to the edges, you all see what Henderson can do with clean air.
