Dateline Miami: God I feel nauseous. That’s how I feel every time I’m in my least favorite foreign country, Florida. And Miami is just the worst of the worst. A hot sweaty mess reeking with the stench of coppertone, Versace and Maison Margiela Beach Walk cologne. Perfect for the artdeco phony inhabitants of a city built on a swamp. Let’s get to it people so I can get out of this Hell in North America.
Here are my monster keys to Patriots victory over the Flipper abusers. Yeah, these assholes used to imprison a dolphin mascot in a ten by ten wading pool. GROSS
Mano A Mano
Man coverage is the way to go this week and I don’t want to see Gonzo doing his best Richard Sherman impression like Covington had him doing last week vs the Rams. Get Gonzo on Hill (Speaking of REEKING, what a lowlife) and let Marcus Jones, with help, try to keep up with Waddle. Another week under his belt should help Christian Barmore see a few more snaps and help spell the defensive line and eat up space. Bully the Dolphin’s receivers at the line of scrimmage and get them out of sync with Tua and his timing patterns. It’s all about the timing.
Don’t Bring the House
The king of the lollypop guild Tua is killing it when he is being pressured. Stay home get your hands up and contain him in the pocket. I know this puts more on the back end but, risk reward here.
Quick to the ball
Mike McDaniel loves to stretch a defense horizontally. He does this with quick screens and outside zone runs. The linebackers are going to need to not over peruse and keep their heads and mind their gaps or De’von Achane and Mostert will simply cut back into the middle of the field for big yards. Set the edge and stay at home.
More Tight Endage More Better. I expect the dynamic duo of Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper to have a field day for Maye. Miami soft zone coverage is tailor made for a dose of 12 man personnel. Sure, we will see some eleven personnel but twelve is the magic number this week. Get into the dozen and find Douglas and Bourne cutting across the middle. Let Hooper handle the stunts (points if you get that movie reference) let Henry hunt the seams to move the sticks. Also check out Clare’s stuffs
Win the Turnover Battle – Miami has been pretty stingy when it comes to turning the ball over – just one in the last three games. We all saw what happened last week. Do not give this team short fields…a pick six would be nice.
Limit the Laundry – Both teams are in the bottom half of the league in flags thrown at them. Do not play from behind the chains this week. Or, how about we just line up correctly ASSHATS.
Flip the Field – WTF Bryce? WTAF is wrong with you ?
Own Third Down – This may be the most important key this week. The Pats need to keep the fish on the bucket this week and get off the field. Early down work is vital this week to owning third.
Own the Red Zone – STOP SETTLING !!!!!! Spread it out and stop pouding Stevenson into a wall inside the five. The Pats are going backwards here 46% on the season but 41% over the past three games and 40% last week, this is unacceptable with an athlete like Drake Maye under center. P.S. The Fins have converted on 72% of their trips over the past 3 games.
Don’t Listen to Xitter
I’ve heard more and more about squawking on Xitter for RPO plays for Drake Maye. NO NO NO. Honestly, I can’t say no enough. Until The Drake can show me he can take care of the football I don’t want to see this. Now, this doesn’t mean I’m against him using his legs when a play breaks down or the Pats are down in the red zone, but he puts the ball on the carpet too often for my liking. This goes back to his college career.
That’s it my rabid readers, I am sick to death hearing about Tua being undefeated against the Patriots. It’s like hearing Dan Orlovski, not beating anyone just his voice…God it’s grating. As always you can follow / give me grief on Twitter and now Blue Sky @Tmurph207
