We all thought when Tompa changed its name back to Tampa the coach would turn back into a pumpkin, yea rethink that. Todd Bowls has this team clicking. Protect the Face
Yes I know, I KNOW. A lot of Mayes sacks are his fault. I get it, BUT this is the reason he is having such a special season. He’s playing his game. What this line needs to do is eliminate the ones that aren’t on The Drake. Todd Bowles will bring the house Sunday time and again. Keep Maye upright and looking pretty. The middle of the line is where they like to attack, the blitz packages ( be ready for the exotics ) need to be picked up and stoned.
Quarters into Slugs
Bowls likes to run quarters coverage. He mixes things up with cover three, but quarters is his bread and butter. Who knows how to beat quarters? That’s right I do. I heard you thinking it. Set up your passing game with outside zone runs with Henderson and inside zone with Jennings . This is not an A-gap week, Josh. Bradberry and Wilson will be clogging that up. Cover three and quarters means light boxes. Get the run game going.
Play Action
Bowles will need to adjust once the first key is turned setting up play action. I see a big game for tight ends Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper. Get Diggs into the slot and let him feast on the intermediate and deep middle of the field, run go routes. Force the safeties to choose. And make them pay for it. If they chose to cover the Go’s, let Henry and Hooper clean up in the seams.
More choices for Tampa D
Scissors routes will also force the Tampa quarters defense to choose their poison. With Pop Douglas and Diggs alternating slot reps with the other on the outside along with Mack Hollins. Motion will show the way Maye is going to attack this Defense. When they adjust you attack the flat, get me my wheel routes josh. YAC CITY.
Win The Turnover battle – Last week this key (the most important key) was not turned. And you had to overcome a two TO game. Tampa does not cough the ball up. But Baker has been really lucky , Take care of the rock and force an extra possession or two
Limit the Laundry – Brilliant showing in the last 3 games for the Patriots. Just two flags were thrown at them last week, but on the road it’s always harder.
Own The Late Downs – here is where the Pats truly shined in last week’s win – 8 of 12 third downs were converted. While the defense held Atlanta to just 3 of 13 on third and fourth down attempts combined.
Own The Red Zone – This has been a real problem. While the Pats did a good job grabbing sixes in week nine, going 3 of 4, they also let the Falcons go 3 for 3. The defense has to sort themselves out and force the Bucs to settle. Get me a bootleg score from inside the ten.
Man the Fuck Up
The Patriots secondary is young and dumb but the front can stop the run. More man means less chance of anyone missing an assignment or a hand off of a receiver. Get into man, let the front seven handle a weak Bucs line. They are going to need to bring pressure without losing contain on Mayfield, Gap integrity and good pad level are the deepest cuts in this key.
