A long time ago in an NFL season Far Far Away… November 2022 the Patriots were coming off a 26 – 3 victory at home over the Colts. The J.E.T.S – Just Eat the Snacks – crew was in town trying to end the Pats 2 game winning streak but Mac Jones and The hoodie were having none of it and came out with a 10-3 victory over the Zach Wilson (where the hell is he?) led JETS before a sell out crowd at Gillette. That was the last time the Patriots strung together two wins in a row. SAD, SAD. Are the good times back? We don’t know yet. And they certainly don’t hinge on what happens Sunday here in Foxboro. But it would be a nice start to grab a second straight W over the Steelers and Discount Double Choke. Here are my Monster Keys to Patriots victory.
Hey Rodgers
Led by Milton Williams, Herold Landry and Christian Barmore the Patriots have the artillery to blow discount Double Choke off the field on Sunday. Dial it up and get home with four. Rodgers completed just 3-11 passes against pressure vs the Seahawks last week. I want him walking on his elbows before half. Make them play from behind the chains and the scoreboard.
Mix Coverages
You are not going to fool Rodgers, it’s just not going to happen . But you can make the old man think. Help the front seven by slipping back and forth between man and zone and force him off his first look.. The week three return of Christian Gonzalez (as predicted by Moi ) should help in this area. God knows this secondary needs their lockdown man back on the field. … Okay so i was wrong, i think Vrabel is sitting him to spite me… Get into Match Quarters that’s the way to roll
Wrap them Up and Drag them Down
Be it Man or Zone, call them X plays or Chunks – IDGA Fuck, these plays have to end. The Pats have given up 18 plays of 15 yards or more in two games. Three last week over 20 and one over 40. That trend has to end if this team is going to finish the season above .500 . This team has gotten beaten deep, that happens when your secondary has lost its leadership and is coming together. What I won’t stand for is poor tackling. Everyone on this side of the ball is hitting, no one is tackling.
Own third down – The Pats were 7-12 and 8-13 last week. Keep it up.
Limit the Laundry – 12 for 75 free yards last week. Lets get real here people. Stop Flinching I mean Pointing junior (Chuckles).
Own The Red Zone – I’m pissed off. The Pats were 3-4 in the red zone last week , so why am I pissed off ? EXTRA POINTS ARE KICKED IN THE RED ZONE. Jesus Christ talk about hitting the bunnies.
Win the turnover battle – The Pats had a clean sheet last week , when was the last time that happened? No, I’m asking, my interns are on strike.
Run The Rock
While a lot of people are questioning the carry split between Stevenson, Gibson and Henderson last week I for one am not. Rhamondre needs touches; he needs to get into a grove. Let him be the battering ram and set up those breakaways for TreVeyon and Antonio on third down and in the second half. And set up
Play Action
The Pats were dealing last week working off play action. Mack Hollins 8 yard TD came off gorgeous boot action, and Stevenson’s 55 yard reception in the third also came on play action. Keep it up – the Steel Sieve will give it up. Keep the Bootlegs Walkin , Hit those mid-range crossers, and bust Henry up the seam.
That’s it my rabid readers – it’s no secret that I can’t stand the Bills, the Dolphins and the Jets but there is a fourth team that I despise almost as much as the aforementioned. That’s wherever Aaron Rodgers is playing for. After blowing a very winnable opener to the Raiders, the Pats need to keep the train rolling and they need to win a home game – and Patriots Nation needs to remember what winning two in a row feels like.
