My Monster Keys to Patriots Draft

My Monster Key to The Patriots 2025 Draft

Yes it’s Christmas for a select group of religious zealots. The 90th NFL draft is upon us. Yes, ninety years this has been going on. The first pick in the first NFL draft was Jay Berwanger, a halfback from the University of Chicago. He had just won the first Heisman trophy ever awarded. He played offence, defence & special teams (sounds like someone we all know) and he never played a down in the NFL. The Eagles dealt him as fast as they picked him to the Bears.  When Bernwagner met Bears Owner, George Halas, Halas asked him what he wanted. Bernwagner told him 25K for two years and Hallas said nice meeting you to his date and left. Talk about blowing a draft. But let’s digress. We are here to talk CHRISTMAS – Patriots Christmas – to be exact, and for the 15th year I’ll be telling the Patriots exactly what they need to do. And for the 15th year, they’ll more likely than not ( see what i did there?) ignore me and listen to the idiots they have chosen to make these choices for you.

Rd One Pick Four

Kelvin Banks Jr. OT Texas

Pick Four or Fourteen, I care not. The Patriots need a franchise left tackle. One of those isn’t available this year. But it’s Christmas and before you get to your Red Ryder BB Gun you have to open up Aunt Clara’s present and the socks and underwear. Well, the socks and underwear pick is a LT, and the LT the Patriots Need is Kelvin Banks Jr.  It’s going to be Campbell , Yes i know that , But Banks is the most pro ready LT in this year’s class. He is the Lombardi Winner and he is the Outland Trophy winner. He is the best choice to step in on day one of rookie camp and take this Job. and keep it for a decade. Campbell will kick in by year two.

Rd Two Pick 38

Tyler Booker OG Alabama

More Socks? Yes, more socks. Could I have gone WR or running back here?  Yes . Could I have grabbed an edge?  You bet. You put these socks on and you’re going to like them.  Again, this draft is so important the Pats can’t miss, they don’t just need players – they need starters. Booker is a first team All American – he is a two-time first team ALL SEC. Devastating power, you want violence? He has it on tap. When he pulls, mothers of Bamma opponents weep. This is the man, there is no doubt. He has the best pass blocking grades at his position in this field. Protect the franchise. Pull up your socks. Keep Drake Maye pretty.

Rd Three Pick 69

The Gronk Pick – Benjamin Morrison CB Notre Dame

Six foot and 190 lbs, BUT – big but – he plays bigger than he looks.  This is a choice where I throw away the testing results and go with my eyes and my gut. This is one of college football’s best ballhawks. With nine career interceptions, he was pre-season all American but was sidelined with a hip injury. That’s why he will be available here. He can play all over the field. And the Patriots sneaky need a corner.

RD 3 Pick 77

Jared Wilson C Georgia

Yeah, you forgot the boxer shorts. Wilson is the boxer shorts this team needs in their top drawer. Wilson may not start in 2025 but he could if you needed him to. A year of understudy behind a healthy Garret Bradbury is a good thing. A ton of the problems with this Patriots line is depth and this kid is great depth, a true passblocking center who can get stronger and better in the run game.

Rd 4 Pick 106

Dion Walker DT Kentucky

6’7 330 LBS – that’s a whole lotta love. yes the Pats did the right thing singing Milton Williams , BRAVO love it , but i’m talking depth here, Depth is the reason The patriots won six Super bowls. Can we depend on Williams playing seventeen games in 2025 ? No . Can we depend on Christian Barmore picking up where he left off before dealing with blood clots ? No . Walker is a rare individual. Size – Speed – POWER for days. he attracts the interior and pushes pockets at will. Learn from The Hoodie. Grab the Kentucky behemoth who will fall after a sub par season.

Rd 5 Pick 144

Trevor Etiene RB Georgia

You want a third down back ? You want the next James White?  You want a weapon? Meet Trevoor Etienne.  And like Mr. White, he isn’t a one trick pony. This kid sees blocks before they happen, changes pace to throw off defenders, and funnels through holes.  Pass catching?  He’s dropped one ball in 63 opportunities. Can you say wheel routes? I CAN.  At just 20 years old, he has time to grow and has a ton of tread on his tires.

Rd 5 Pick 171

Malachi Moore S Alabama

This pick may be wishful thinking as some smart GM could take Moore a round sooner than this. Malachi is a chess piece that will see a ton of time in his rookie year here in New England’s sub packages. He sees routes at the snap and closes fast in space. Watching this young man bait quarterbacks is a thing of beauty. Get this kid even if you have to trade up to do it Vrabel.

Rd 7 Pick 220

Johan Monheim C  USC

Meet the man who got Calib Williams the Heisman.  At 6’4” and  302 Lbs, in 2022 he started fourteen games at RT.  In 2023, he flipped over to LT for 12 starts and in 2024 he was moved to Center and made 12 starts !!  With 46 starts in all, he has started at least 3 games at every OL spot.  I NEED this kid in my veins. The only knock on him is his arm length – 30⅛ inches . I don’t care, if the rest of the world can draft a stubby armed LT at 4, I sure as hell can take this man at 220. DEPTH DEPTH DEPTH !!!

Rd 7 Pick 238

Draft the Butchie

Thats it my rabid readers, another perfect draft in the book.  Will the Pats take anyone I want them to?  Probably not.  There isn’t a great track record in this “War Room”.  Thanks for always reading …. Follow / give me grief on Twitter at @Tmurph207s
