Introduction
The Brooklyn Nets traveled to TD garden on Christmas Day to take on the The #Celtics at home for each teams second game of the season. The Celtics fell 123 – 95 in a game where the score didn’t reflect the game. For the Celtics, Jaylen Brown Lead the way with 27/8/3 shooting 44% from the filed, while clocking in 30 minuets of playing time. Jayson Tatum added 20 points and 8 rebounds on 40.9% from the field. Kyrie dropped 37/6/8 and Kevin Durant finished with 29 points and two steals.
Bad Third Quarter
For the Celtics, they went toe to toe with the stacked Nets team, but as we seen many times over recent years the Celtics ended the Third poorly, and couldn’t get much going into the fourth. This was the Celtics first Christmas Day loss since the 2017-18 season when they fell 111 – 103 to the Washington Wizards. The C’s played this game with a heavy heart as news broke of Celtics Legend KC Jones passing away on Christmas Day.
Is the Sky Now Falling?
No the sky isn’t falling after two games into the NBA season. For the Celtics to be successful this season, I believe Jaylen brown needs to step up a level which we have seen so far he has. Payton Pritchard is NBA ready and it is evident, as he gets more game time he will become more confident , and hopefully turn into a reliable bench player. Tatum also needs to take his game to the next level. Not having a single free throw yet is not ideal for him. Tristan Thompson had a solid game as he finished with 8 points, 8 rebounds while only clocking 21 minutes of action. Thompson will clearly help this team out big time with rebounding, his game has spoken for itself so far. The most important asset Thompson has brought to this team is his picks, as they are helping Brown and Tatum big time. Jeff Teague had a great first game, but yesterday’s game was the complete opposite ( 0 points). Expect something in the middle of his monster first game, and his poor game yesterday going forward.
Up next for the Celtics is a game in Indiana against the Pacers Sunday at 8PM eastern.
What are your impressions of the team so far?
