Patriots tidbits as we wait until Sunday

Waiting Game

Here we sit waiting for the big game Sunday night, one that I expect will end in a Patriots win. I don’t want to break down my usual 5 players to watch just yet.  What I want to do is touch on some tidbits to look at ahead of that article.  Let’s begin.

Robert Kraft goes for 300: With a win Sunday in Detroit the owner and boss will have won his 300th game as team owner. When the Patriots do achieve that next win, Mr. Kraft will be the fastest owner to reach that feat in NFL history. How incredible is it that in his 25th season he’s on the cusp of history?

Bill vs Patricia: This will be the second matchup in 3 weeks where Bill Belichick will have faced a former assistant. This is gonna be an interesting match-up as Patricia goes for win number one in his career and the first of this young season. I believe Patricia will want that win badly for a variety of reasons, one being just trying to get his team headed in the right direction. Will Patricia, who served 14 years in the Patriots organization, get his first win on Sunday?

It started here: Tom Brady got his first action in his Hall of Fame career in Detroit on Thanksgiving day back in 2000, going one for three for 6 yards. The Patriots lost that game 34-9 that day. Let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself here.

Series overview: The Patriots hold a 7-4 series edge.  They have won the last 4 meetings overall, with the last loss coming in Thanksgiving of 2000.

Team stats: Here is the breakdown of both teams’ stats going into Sunday. The Patriots currently have the 20th rank offense, averaging 335 yards and 23.5 points per game. The Patriots defense ranks 28th overall, giving up 403 yards and 25.5 points per game. The Lions offense currently sits at 11th overall with a ppg of 22.0. The Lions defense sits at 16th overall giving up a whopping 39.0 a game.

That is it for now; just some notes I wanted to drop for everyone. I will have my usual 5 players to watch drop this weekend for everyone. I hope this helps in some capacity for you before kick-off.
