Red Sox Breslow Whiff on Snell : Time To Pivot

Not even Thanksgiving and Craig Breslow already has two strikes on him.  Tuesday night we saw Blake Snell, a player that Craig Breslow and the Red Sox brass has been talking to and working toward signing, land a deal with of all teams the Dodgers. The Lefty Snell inked a five year 182 million dollar deal with LA leaving Breslow and company holding their now patented Free Agent “ We were in On It “ statement in their hands for any and all who wanted to ask. Now Breslow and the Red Sox need to pivot and fill out the front end of this rotation. With Snell off the market and options becoming limited he has to move quickly,

Garrett Crochet

White Sox Garrett Crochet becomes even more attractive, especially if Breslow can negotiate a deal at a non-Big 4 price. Roman Anthony , Marcelo Mayer , Kyler Teel, or Kristian Campbell. Good luck with that. I believe Breslow will have to give up one of the big four plus Wilyer Abreu or Triston Casas to pry Crochet away from chi-town. You all know who I’d put in this deal.  You can hear me chuckling in your head can’t you ?

Corbin Burnes

Corbin Burnes remains the biggest present under any team’s Christmas tree. The 30-year-old righty already has an NL Cy Young under his belt from the 2021 season with the Milwaukee Brewers but has also been in the top 10 in Cy Young voting in each of the past five seasons. Consistency WE LOVE IT. If Mr Burnes is going to be in the AL East it should be in a Sox uniform.

The numbers for Burnes are enticing in themselves. Since he became a full-time rotation guy in 2020, Burnes has a 2.88 ERA with a 1.02 WHIP in 134 starts. He’s the balls. And the Sox know he can handle the AL East.

Max Fried

If Max Fried was under Red Sox Nation’s Christmas tree no one would be upset. The Sox rotation needs his left arm and have the cash to make the, damn it’s just money move. BUT, that’s a big but , Fried is soon to be 31 and we all know how John Henry hates giving the over 30 crowd big contracts. More But’s . But Fried has been nothing but lights out in his time in the ATL. going 71-31 since 2019. Not to mention he has more than a 99 mph fastball in his pitching bag to age with.

If Breslow can come away with one of these three arms for the top of the Rotation i’ll be happy, if he can grab two ? all will be forgiven for 5 years of John Henry playing scrooge and it could be a merry Christmas for all and for all a good 2025. Also bring me Soto
