Red Sox Were Never Re-signing Justin Turner

It’s been more than four months since the Red sox finished DEAD LAST in the American League East. and one of the few bright spots in the 2023 Red Sox season Justin Turner is now a member of the Toronto Blue Jays. This week Turner signed a one year 13 million dollar deal with the Jays. A number he might have stayed in Boston for. There’s only one hitch. The Red Sox didn’t see this as a 13 million dollar deal.

No, the Sox and when I say the Sox I mean John Henry saw it as a one year 19.75 million dollar contract. When Justin Turner opted out declined the option on his second year here in Boston the Sox i mean John Henry had to pay him 6.7 million dollars. That was the deal. And who can blame Turner for taking it? If someone offered you 6.7 million free bucks wouldn’t you take it ? I know I would. It was the smart business decision on Turner’s part.

As for smart business decisions John Henry has made few of those over the past few years. I’m not talking about his bottom line. I’m talking about the business of baseball. We won’t go into all of them, you’re smart, you know the score. So that’s it, that’s the bottom line. John Henry wasn’t going to endorse that 6.7 million dollar check to Turner and pay him another 13 million plus to wear BOSTON across his chest in 2024. I said it before and I’ll say it again . this team is far worse than the last place one that cleaned out it’s locker back in October
